Water balance component analysis of a spring catchment of western Nepal

Springs in the mountains and hills are getting affected by both climatic non-climatic changes. Hydrologic models used to simulate response of spring systems changes; however, only a limited number studies using hydrologic modeling approach have been accomplished on studying springs spring-dominated watersheds Nepal. This research aimed at understanding changing hydrological processes through catchment. A micro-catchment named 'Sikharpur' West Seti watershed Nepal was selected get insights into process influencing system. The RRAWFLOW with gamma distribution time variant IRFs were calibrated validated for catchment best fit model. discharge simulated according future projected climate scenarios. Then, water balance assessed micro-catchment. results showed that likely variables potential scenarios is critical resource management. It estimated would be decreased more than 40 percentage after 50 years mainly due increase evapo-transpiration (91.47% precipitation). Evapo-transpiration found as major impacting upon catchment; therefore, its management better conservation recommended considering high months, deficient period crop factor. change storage observed 51.78%; so, detail isotopic analysis long-term monitoring required further characterization components.
